NOT Surface (Cold Pressed)
NOT surface is between the roughest and smoothest. Also known as Cold Press (CP). This is the most popular and versatile surface for watercolor painting and line and wash techniques. The NOT (i.e. not hot pressed) is achieved by carefully controlled pressure applied between steel rollers in machine made papers or by pressing two sheets together in the hand making process, so that when separated the facing surfaces which result have this particular even texture with good 'tooth' well suited to a wide range of styles and applications.
